Hair Woes!!

Hi DivaBaby! Fam,

I am getting so confused with all the natural hair products?!?!  I have been natural since August 18, 2009 and I love it but I am really confused about what products work best on my hair.  I am currently using Kinky Curly products and I am going Hairveda products soon.  I have been researching different products and visiting blogs (watching tons of videos on YouTube).  Confusion is my middle name!  I guess I have to keep doing what works for me.  I going to attempt some twist next time I wash my hair (pray for me). I will be adding some pictures soon and I might even get up the nerve to start my own YouTube vblog :-)

Happy Hair Journey & Enjoy the holidays!

The Traditions of Christmas

Hello DivaBaby! Fam,

Last evening I watched a few TV shows that explored the traditions of Christmas.  Christmas is often a time of "perfection" (i. e. going from store to store buying  the "perfect" gifts, baking the "perfect "cookies, finding the "perfect" tree/decorating it, mailing the "perfect" holiday greeting cards, rsvping to the the "right" holiday parties, etc.  Is it the perfection that we remember or the imperfections?

I can remember a Christmas, when I was a pre-teen and my dad and I watched National Lampoon's Vacation; we must have taken too long cause my mom started crying because we were not participating in her idea of a "perfect" Christmas.  My moms actions made that particular Christmas more memorable than any before, thus creating a Christmas tradition that we tease her about to this day.  May be we just all need to lighten up a bit around the holidays and focus on enjoy being together and not so much on the idea of having the "perfect" Christmas.  Besides, "perfection" becomes mundane, shake up the holidays a bit!!!  Just a thought!  :-)

Have a safe & Happy holiday season!

The Return from Paris!!

Hi DivaBaby! Fam!

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the holiday season.  I haven't been blogging for a couple of months, in order, to prepare for our trip to Paris.  In one word, WOW!  I have never experienced anything like this.  Seeing the beauty of the buildings, the people---being submerged in the culture felt almost like a privilege.  Words cannot do justice to Paris.  My husband and I took over 800 hundred photos and I wanted to just include a few that will give you a brief decription of what we saw.  I will truly say that I love Paris and a piece of my soul was left there.  Enjoy the pics!  :-)

Good Evening DivaBaby! Fam,

Just finished helping my daughter with her homework.  It hit me that she is growing up so fast that in a blink of an I, she will be grown and off to college.  Upon the realization, it makes me even more determined to raise her right.  I need to model proper ettique, like keeping a clean & organized, Godly home, speaking positive words to all members of my family (even when I don't feel like it), etc.  I do know that being a wife and a mother is not an easy task, but it is one that should never be taken lightly.  If she strays from what I have modeled for her, I will feel a responsibility to do what I can to help her, because God blessed me with her and actually He did (and does) do the same thing for us.  You may ask how?  He is always there and He left His words (The Bible) for us to model and to tell others about.  It amazes me that how everything we do comes back to God.  Even when we do sinful things, God is there--just waiting for us to call on Him for help.  Remember one thing Diva Baby! Fam:  God lives in us all!

What would Jesus Do? Helping the Flood Victims.

Hello DivaBaby! Fam,

I want to take this opportunity to share my personal testimony with you.  Over the last few weeks, I have undergone a transformation of my spirit.  During a Bible Study class (shout out to VMs) a VM spoke about "What would Jesus Do" and that was a "LIGHTBULB" moment for me.  I knew the answer but it not something that is always easy to do.  We as human being are designed to be self-serving (nothing is wrong with this--too a certain point).  We often think well how can I help?  They certainly need more than I can give.  Well, just think if Jesus had that attitude!?!  You see were this is going?

I've made the decision that I was not going to sit by and not do anything.  I volunteered for a shift at West Ridge Church (3522 Hiram-Acworth Hwy. in Dallas, GA).  I will be going to flood victims homes and assisting with clean-up.  To find out more information, please go to http://www.allforkids.com/.  Here is also some helpful information:

  • How do I get Help?  Contact Samaritan's Purse by phone 678.202.5974 or by email at disasterresponse@samaritan.org
  • Where can I stay?  Contact the Red Cross at 404.876.3302
  • Where can I get Food?  Contact Warehouse of Hope by phone at 770.489.0509
  • Where can I get water, blankets, and shoes?  You can get thes items at West Ridge Church-between the hours of 10 am to 7 pm.
I hope you take this opportunity to give of yourself and focus on the grace & mercy of Jesus.

Take care & Be Blessed,

DivaBaby!SB

Good Afternoon DivaBaby! Fam

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Sunday!  I would like to know if any of you have the 2 am Rule in your household.  Basically, it is a curfew for the parents.  During the first year or two of marriage, we both went out separately with our friends and we would stay out until we felt like coming home.  We both realized that this was a selfish way to behave, so we established the "2 am Rule".  Now, it has been broken a few time (by a person who will remain nameless); thus it has been taken even further.  The bedroom door is now locked---you might ask yourself---how does he/she know when 2 am has come?  The alarm is set; besides if you have been married for any length of time---you know when the spouse is in the bed or not.  So my question to you is, does this seem like a fair rule?  ETalk to me DivaBaby! Fam!

Introducing DivaBaby!

What is DivaBaby!

The lifestyle was born out of a need to define my own self and not let others dictate MY life. After the birth of my daughter I really begin the journey of DivaBaby! I begin to look at life as an opportunity to define and shape my own destiny. I choose to become a stay-at-home and sacrafice the extra income to devote time to raising our daughter. I will not perpetuate the debate over which is better stay-at-home or working moms; we as mom work---period. I have held jobs but none have provided me with the satisfaction and freedom, I've experienced as a mom. Thus DivaBaby! was born.

What does DivaBaby! do

DivaBaby! does it all. Like me, I've tried a number of occupations, theories, advice, etc. Some worked and others did not. My aim is to put information out there for people to use their own judgement on what works best for them (remember YOU define YOU). I believe that positive exposure is key to your development as a human being. I do not attempt to define what kind of exposure works best for each individual that is pre-determined by your childhood, environment, etc. However, I can provide the helpful information and let you decide. DivaBaby! is an exchange of information that keeps the lines of positive communication flowing.
